چکیده

Semiselective heteronuclear cross-polarization for achieving coherence transfer between a spin I 5 2 scalar coupled to a spin S> 1 2 in isotropic solution is considered. The expansion of the density operator as products of irreducible tensor operators provides a compact formalism for describing cross-polarization involving scalar coupled quadrupolar nuclei. An analytical description of cross-polarization is presented in the limit of strong radio-frequency ~rf! fields, with respect to the scalar-coupling constant. Numerical simulations show that reducing the rf field amplitudes does not have a detrimental effect on the efficiency of the transfer provided they are comparable to or greater than the scalar-coupling constant. The use of weak rf fields largely circumvents the reduced efficacy due to Hartmann–Hahn mismatch. Applications of the method for selective observation of scalar-coupled quadrupolar nuclei are considered and experimental results are presented for a mixture of beryllium fluoride complexes. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1560955#

Relaxation of Spin 1/2 in the Scalar Coupled Spin System AMX with Quadrupolar Nuclei in the Presence of Cross-correlation Effects

We present the formal theory of the nuclear magnetic relaxation of spin 1/2 A in a scalar coupled spin system AMX with quadrupolar nuclei of spin 1 (M, X) considering cross-correlation relaxation based on second order time-dependent perturbation theory and the product operator formalism. The expressions for longitudinal and transverse relaxation times and dynamic frequency shifts of each compon...

Solid-State Polarization-Transfer Experiments Involving Quadrupolar Nuclei

Historically, cross-polarization experiments [1,2] have been used to transfer spin coherence from abundant spins to a dilute spin system. Protons (*H) have been used almost exclusively as the source of strong nuclear polarization for cross-polarization experiments, although there have been some examples where other abundant nuclei have been used. Coupled with magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR [3],...

Enhancing sensitivity of quadrupolar nuclei in solid-state NMR with multiple rotor assisted population transfers.

Rotor-assisted population transfer (RAPT) was developed as a method for enhancing MAS NMR sensitivity of quadrupolar nuclei by transferring polarization associated with satellite transitions to the central m=12-->-12 transition. After a single RAPT transfer, there still remains polarization in the satellite transitions that can be transferred to the central transition. This polarization is avai...

Cross polarization from (1)H to quadrupolar (6)Li nuclei for dissolution DNP.

Cross polarization from protons to quadrupolar (6)Li nuclei is combined with dynamic nuclear polarization of protons at 1.2 K and 6.7 T using TEMPOL as a polarizing agent followed by rapid dissolution. Compared to direct (6)Li DNP without cross-polarization, a higher nuclear spin polarization P((6)Li) can be obtained in a shorter time. A double resonance (1)H-(6)Li probe was designed that is eq...
